I totally and completely forgot that I wanted to run some hills during last night’s work out! I only remembered when I was reading a post from Hungry Runner Girl about her first marathon training plan, and she was writing about running up a hill instead of walking it. Ah well, maybe I’ll incorporate some hills into tomorrow’s long run?
Mr. Badger and I set our weekend plan of attack at 6:30am this morning. Tomorrow is one of the most important days of the year: Summer Camp sign ups. Last year was a near disaster. The sign ups were on a Friday, so by the time I got there, straight from school pickup, every. single. week was full already. I got the Badger kids waitlisted for each week, and there was a lot of crossed fingers & toes in our house. We need Summer camp all Summer for child care, or else we are up a creek for 2 1/2 months. Thankfully the kids ending up getting a space for every week (a lot of people sign up, and then drop weeks at a later date). I can’t explain how excited I was to see that this year, Summer camp sign ups had been moved to Saturday morning. Hooray!!!!! I made sure the organizers knew my heartfelt appreciation for moving the sign ups to a time that was more convenient for working parents. The stress of no definite plan for last Summer wasn’t fun, I remember being on vacation in California (over July 4th) and taking phone calls about Summer camp places for the end of July. Stress city! As an aside, this was the Badger kids on Lombard Street, in San Francisco….
So while I was stressing about child care, they obviously weren’t. I’ll have to think about those San Francisco hills when I do get around to my hill workout, any hill around here looks ant sized compared to there! I also found this photo of the Boy Badger when looking at California photos. One of my most favorite ever…
Do you see that dimple? *LOVE*
Back to our Saturday plan of attack: Work out for Mr. Badger, then he will tackle Summer camp sign ups while Betty & I go with the Boy to his basketball practice. I will do my long run while Mr. Badger goes with the Boy to Betty’s basketball practice. Then all that is left is to take Betty to (yet another) birthday party. Easy, right? We’ll see this time tomorrow if it all has worked out!
Happy Friday everyone!
Do you have some fun plans for this weekend? If you have kids, how does your regular schedule change over the Summer?

I am spoiled in the summer, as I’m a teacher. Even better–my son goes to my district, so his schedule is the same as mine. Almost makes up for the fact that the state of IL is spending my retirement and we are looking at some very scary funding issues in the next couple of years.
