Honey Badger Runs - Running adventures of the honey badger

We survived our super busy Saturday!

I couldn’t believe it when Mr. Badger texted me from Summer camp sign up to let me know that he was third in line at 8:10am (sign up started at 9), and that by the time it started, there were over 60 people lined up behind him. Summer camp is serious business! Maybe next year I will have to send Mr. Badger with a sleeping bag the night before!

Boy Badger’s basketball practice was great, I love that it starts so early (8:30am), so it burns off some of his energy early in the day! After practice it was time for my run, it was FREEZING out, literally.  The temperature was 21 degrees when I left the house, and I don’t think it warmed up.  I really enjoyed the long run today. I took my time, and enjoyed a run that didn’t feel hard, even at the end. I did however spend a very long time in the bath when I got home, trying to defrost fingers and toes.  I must remember my smartwool socks on my next cold run!

Soon enough it was time to go to Betty’s birthday party. I had some giggles when one of the other moms there asked me if I was out running this morning… in a pink vest.  Oh yes, my pink vest is BRIGHT!

Mr. Badger has the best idea ever once we got home from the party. I suggested Costco, he did one better and suggested furniture shopping (or browsing, since we’re not actually close enough to move in date to buy yet). We picked out a few pieces that we’d like, including this coffee table (with matching t.v. console and side table)….

It may be hard to tell from the photo, but the inlay is slate, which I love! Mr. Badger picking out an awesome lazy boy recliner for his “man cave”, it will look great next to the treadmill I plan on putting down there! ;)

We had an easy dinner, and the best dessert ever.

It looks like a big pile of mush in the photo, but it was Breyer’s Chips Ahoy ice cream with chocolate chips, Heath toffee bits and caramel sauce, all in a waffle bowl. At first it was just Betty and I having a bowl. The boy saw mine, and wanted one, so I gave mine to him. I made myself a second bowl, Mr. Badger saw it, and wanted one, so he got my second attempt. The third bowl was finally mine, and I felt a bit like Goldilocks with my three attempts!

I’m super excited about tomorrow’s race, and have most of my stuff set out, ready to go. I heard on the radio this morning that the Empire State Run Up is this week, I can’t imagine racing up 86 flights of stairs, good luck to those runners racing on Wednesday!

Have you ever entered a non-traditional race? What is your favorite dessert?

That dessert looks amazing. Salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream are my current favorite combo.

On the tenth anniversary of 9/11, some friends and I went to Red Rocks amphitheater in Colorad (google images for it if you don’t know it…it’s amazing!). Anyway, firefighters sponsored a walk equivalent to going up 110 flights of stairs in the World Trade towers. I thought I would be dying, but it wasn’t too bad.
