Honey Badger Runs - Running adventures of the honey badger

Blogging, and stellar customer service!

I just read this post from Katy Widrick about growing your blog. It was an interesting read.  One of the points was to stick to one subject in a post.  Yeah…. that’s not going to happen in this post!

Firstly, I had such amazing, fantastic customer service from iFitness yesterday! I’ve had an Ultimate II Running Belt for a few months now, and use it on my long runs to score a few bits and carry water, if needed.  Sunday was the first time I tried it for a race (you can see it in the photo below).  When I went to put my race number on the bib I noticed that the bungee cord had come unstitched on one side, so my number was a bit crooked.  I emailed iFitness about it yesterday, and got a response back in less than 5 minutes.  I wasn’t expecting that at all! I had a great back and forth with Molly from iFitness, and she let me know that they would send me out a new belt right away, no problem at all.  Even better, it sounds like my new belt will have MORE pink on it, score! I was worried that it might take some time (& hassle) to get a new belt, I figured I would have to send my old one back for them to fix, or replace, before I got a new one.  I really want/need my belt for the NYC Half in less than six weeks (eeeek!), so I’m over-the-moon happy that I’ll have a new belt way before then.

The race photos from Sunday went online, and I’m putting it all out there and posting one of my photos….

I have no idea why I look so serious, I had a good time, honestly! This was just before mile one, at the start of the first hill. You can see from all the people nearby, it was chilly on Sunday morning!

I’m not sure that my legs have totally recovered from the weekend’s miles.  I ran 7 miles on the treadmill this evening, and it didn’t feel as easy as I thought it would.  However, that could be a mental issue.  I can’t wait for Spring to roll around, and start getting out on the road more.

I did reward myself with a ridiculously long bath after my run, with some Pepperidge Farm orange milano cookies.  I don’t buy them very often because they last all of five minutes in our house, they are just too good!

Luckily I didn’t have to share them with anyone, the kids were in bed, and Mr. Badger is away for a few days at a work thing.  Poor Mr. Badger works so hard, and it’s so tough when he travels.  This was the photo he sent me with the caption “My view from the elliptical in the resort gym”.

Life is rough, what with ugly views like that, and the perks that a gold frequent flier card gets you. ;)  I don’t feel bad at all now about his Germany-and-back in 48 hours trip last week.

I’m settling down to watch the new episodes of Smash now, such a treat to have the t.v. all to myself, and get to watch shows live instead of later on Hulu!

Do you buy your race photos? Have any that you really love? Do you work out when you travel, or take a break?

I love, love, love the Mint Milanos. They are amazing. Each time I travel, I try to fit a run in my schedule. Sometimes I succeed, others not. It depends if I am training hard, too. It also depends if I can fit my running shoes in my carry on if I fly :)

Amy, the Mint Milanos are a close second for me! I’m a pro at packing carry ons, we only take carry on luggage back to England for a 2 week trip (with 2 kids). Seriously… and I always have room for my sneakers!

First off, one topic per post, what fun is that? I think that’s a matter of opinion. Some of my favorite blogs are ones that are all over the place in ever post.

I love your shirt in the race, and your socks too! I always look serious running too. Except when I know I’m getting my picture taken then I smile like an idiot.

I don’t think I’ve run in a race big enough to have “official” photos but I’ve bought a couple of Chris’s.

Thanks Jan, my son has stolen my socks, they are like full length leggings on him! I’ve only had photos taken at 2 races, and the first were so bad I immediately went on a diet! ;)
